how to join a Dominions 3 game

1.) Start Dom3

2.) use Game Tools to create a god to upload
(if you dont already have one) .

3.) go back to main menu

4.) select NETWORK

5.) select Connect to a Dominions Server

6.) enter game.dom3minions.com or the IP number, and hit Ok.
(this would be whatever address for the machine hosting the game)

7.) enter the port number for the game you want to join, and hit Ok

------ additional notes ----------

Select the nation you want to play and your god should be automatically uploaded. If you have multiple gods then it should let you choose which one to send.

If the nation select screen does NOT show your nation as open and highlighted then you might not have a god pre-made. Gods made for solo play when you go thru "create a game" do not show up for multiplayer games at this time. You must go the the "game tools" to make a multiplayer god.

When making your god be sure to put a password on it before saving it. If it has no password, then any player will be able to overwrite your game.

If you feel that you might drop out of the game early, please choose a password that is unique. One you wont mind passing on so that someone can substitute for you in the game. If you choose the same password for all of your gods, then giving up the password to a sub will compromise ALL of your god files (which are a real pain to redo).

If you decide to make changes to your god before the game is started you CAN reconnect and upload the new version. The game will use the last version sent to it as long as its for the same nation. But once that game is started, very few things can be easily changed.

For the games on this server (game.dom3minions.com) you can speed up getting more players by creating a thread in the "MultiPlayers and AARs" forum at Shrapnel Games by clicking here. Mention the game name, the link to the game, and the era being played. There is also an advantage in being the one to create the thread since the admin here considers that person to be the one "running" the game. Making requests such as dropping a player or putting the game on hold for a day are handled faster by coming from the player who created the game thread.
